Does evidence show that business is lucrative?
WHY IT IS NECESSARY TO KNOW
Have you ever wondered if business is beneficial? It is good to have this concern, infact to ask if it is. The question is a very important one to us if we ever want to start business. If business is not beneficial then it isn't worth indulging in.
Would you commit to the performance of something that would never profit you? As one that is wise, is it not only if something is profitable that you would indulge in it? All wise people are the same. If they want to do something, they sit down and examine that thing. If it is beneficial, then that would motivate them to do it. But if it is not, they would not do such a thing. Having disciplined ourselves to function this way as humans, it would be a wise thing to try to ascertain if business is truly worth indulging in. For more certain reasons, it would be wise to make this consideration.
1. TO AVOID WASTING CAPITAL
If business only is beneficial, would we want to start it. But if it is not, then it would be a foolish thing to start one.
One of the basic things needed to start a business is capital. Capital consists of money and assets. And naturally they are very difficult to earn. Capital is usually used to drive most of the processes and activities of business formation, including; raw material purchase, contracting of company builders, business registration, etc.
Because business startup requires capital, it would be a waste of resources if we start a business but does not benefit from it. Or would we want to waste our resources?
2. TO AVOID WASTING TIME
Business running and management requires time. Those who run business give it their time. If we pursue business and it is not beneficial, then, we would only waste our time- the time that we would have channeled into the pursuit of other affairs. Time is a resource we cannot afford to waste.
There is a saying that ''What is worth doing is worth doing well''. And likewise, 'what is beneficial only, is what is worth doing'. Thus why, we must examine if knowledge is impactful before embracing it.
3. FOR KNOWLEDGE INCREMENT
Also, for the sake of knowledge increment, we would want to know if knowledge is beneficial. We want to be knowledgeable in this regard lest we remain ignorant. As those who value knowledge, we would never opt for ignorance. Knowledge is one of the core human values. If we learn this, we succeed in adding to the things that we know. And do we not want to become more knowledgeable than we are?
THE ANSWER TO THE QUESTION
The answer to the question is 'YES'. A very resounding one. Knowledge is truly beneficial. This is not a claim that is void of evidence. Look around you, would find businesses. The world is replete with business men. Observation indicates that business formation and running is a route that is filled with people. Many and many people ply this route more than they any other. There are more people involved in business than; War, Science and Arts. Humans refrain from pursuing other fields giving one reason or the other. But they never refrain from engaging in business. The rate at which they start business is quite alarming. Almost everyday according to one authority businesses are formed in every part of the world. Some own more than one. And, those who have, increase by establishing more. Those who have not started any, due to any reason, aspire to do so. Thousands who have the ambition to start business, but are constrained, are applying to organisations for loans to start a business. They even go to the extent of seeking it from relatives, when they are unable to source it from the government or other sources meant particularly for it.
If you go to business schools, you would find students acquiring business skills, which is an indication that they want to use their skills to pursue business. If not theirs, to manage that of others after graduation.
Most people if you have conversed with them, you would likely hear them share their ambition to start one business or the other. Infact almost everyone wants to start business.
The broad embrace of business by humans seem to make boost to the claim, that knowledge is beneficial.
When we consider the fact that humans are selfish by nature, we would more readily admit this claim into the list of facts. Humans never engage in anything that is not profitable. Infact some philosophers have posited that humans are selfish. They would never, ever indulge in anything that would never profit them. Our prudent nature is also in such a way that we never pursue things that have as their result vain, instead of profit. This very psychology of ours is perhaps more a base to us, for our claim.
Consider, would someone who invested his money to start a business, and succeeded be willing to start another one if it does not benefit him?
